Juan Olivares
Juan Olivares was raised in the Atacama Desert, Chile. Wondering about the arid landscape famously known for clear night skies as he camped with his family, a love for nature and astronomy was born. While there, he lived near one of the largest open-pit mines in the world. Being able to see firsthand how deeply humans can alter their environment for our development at such a vast scale, the question of how to facilitate mankind’s needs without making such a large impact on the planet was fixed in his mind.
He and his family moved to sunny South Florida during his early teenage years, which helped him understand another side of ecology as he went from not seeing rain in 7 years, to experiencing Hurricane-like conditions immediately upon landing.
He went on to study Environmental Science and Sustainability at Florida International University, which led to an internship at a biological research field station. This is where he met Kye Ewing. With Kye’s help, the deeply rooted love for astronomy became a rediscovered obsession.
“This love for the night sky, the environment, and the wonders of storytelling, have all collided together as Interstellar Publications, where we hope to fuel your quest for the unknown with stories meant to entertain and inspire.”
